The lift handle makes it easy to move.
Fast, Effective Snow Removal with the Power Curve System
Toro's patented Power Curve System employs a unique, curved rotor and a funnel-shaped housing, in addition to wide rubber paddles that propel the machine forward and clean all the way down to the pavement. This technology lets you move more snow in less time, and it virtually eliminates clogging, so you can be confident that your snow thrower will be ready the next time a winter storm comes your way.

With a snow removal capacity of 700 pounds per minute, the Power Curve lets you clear four inches of snow off a 50-by-20-foot driveway in just 10 minutes. The machine's clearing width of 18 inches means that you can clear most walkways with just one or two quick passes. And with a snow cut depth of 10 inches per pass, you won't need to repeat work you've already done, unless you're in the middle of a serious blizzard.

Compact and Easy to Maintain with Electric Power
With no gas or oil to burn through, no spark plugs to change, and no time-consuming tune-ups, this electric snow thrower is a cost-effective, eco-friendly option. Its compact size makes it easier to maneuver than big, gas-powered units, and it's easier to store, too. This makes an electric unit like the Toro 1800 ideal for small spaces like porches, decks, and patios.

When you do want to clear a large area, you'll appreciate the surprisingly powerful nature of this lightweight unit. It features a reliable, series-wound 12 Amp motor, which is designed to produce high torque and operate at relatively low speeds, making it a perfect choice for snow-throwing.

The cord lock system eliminates one of the potential downfalls of using electric products by ensuring your extension cord is reliably locked in place. And with electric power, this snow thrower is easy to start up. Even on the coldest days, it's as simple as squeezing the trigger on the control bar and releasing it when you want to stop. There's no priming or frustrating cord pulling.

Convenient, Ergonomic Features for a Long Life
The trigger is conveniently placed on an ergonomically designed handle for comfort and ease of use, while a key lock means you never have to worry about unauthorized use.

Additionally, a remote crank chute and deflector give you full 180-degree adjustability, so it's easy to throw snow anywhere you want. And a specially-designed lift handle on the top of this 24-pound unit takes the awkwardness out of moving your snow thrower from your garage to your porch or tucking it in your vehicle.

This snow thrower is backed by a full two-year warranty.

5 out of 5 stars EXACTLY what I was looking for   September 2, 2010
mep (Oak Park, IL)
As anticipated, my acquisition of this snow thrower resulted in lighter snowfall for Chicagoland for the 2009-10 winter. But when it did snow it was such a relief to have this on hand. It's lightweight, which is great because I have to bring it up out of the basement and return it there after use. It's powerful enough for the job I have to do, clearing the front, back and side walkways, a 20 x 30' parking area and in front of a two car garage that faces the alley. What would take me hours can now be done in 20 minutes. It was shipped promptly -- Amazon always does an excellent job. I got the 100' heavy duty cord that was intended for use outdoors in the cold. I Like the fact that the plug lights up.

1 out of 5 stars Stopped Working After the First Use   July 13, 2010

I used this on my average size driveway while the snow was just a couple of inches. It worked great the first time I used it, but during a second snow storm, the motor started smoking. I opened the side panel and could see the belt was off its track. I had to take it to an authorized Toro dealer and repair store who contacted the Toro company and informed them that the motor was inoperable. The Toro company decided to send me a new machine which I am supposed to receive sometime in August or September, 2010. We'll see what happens. Overall, I do not feel this snow thrower is reliable and was disappointed with not being able to get any reasonable use out of it. I am probably better off buying a small gas snow thrower for next season.

4 out of 5 stars Toro 1800 Electric Curve Snow Thrower   June 10, 2010

If you do not have a lot of driveway and sidewalk, this is a good snow thrower to have. It works well. You don't have to deal with gasoline. Be sure you have enough electric cable. If you have to connect one or more cables together, it might be a good idea to tape them together so they do not separate. It is not heavy, so it is easy to move around. I like it.

3 out of 5 stars Nice While It Lasted   June 4, 2010

i had it for 1 year and only used it once and I thought it did a fine job for its small size. Then this year I used it 2 times and it burned out. It's sitting in the garage waiting to be thrown out now. I thought it was nice while it lasted but for the price it didn't last long enough for me.

5 out of 5 stars it's an electric wonder   May 13, 2010
K. Martin (Cherry Hill, NJ)
Winter 2010 the Northeast was pounded by 3 snow storms that dropped over 70 inches of snow. Two of these storms were only a few days apart, leaving 50+ inches in spots by the time it was all said and done. Do not buy this and expect to be able ot handle 20+ inches of snow in 1 pass. The toro 1800 can handle about 8-10inches of snow without any real headache. Through all of hte storms I would take a run around the drive way every few hours, and this electric wonder would toss the snow whereever I wanted it.

I did find that when trying ot handle lots of wet snow it would periodically clog the discharge shoot, but it could be cleared quickly and easily. My only other complaint was that the unit had slipped the running belts, which required opening up the side access panels refitting the belts and ensuring that the fly wheel and shaft were full srewed in to all their bits.

The Toro 1800 is relatively inexpensive for snow throwers, handles itself amazing well and doesn't require any real maintenance. For all these reasons I give it 5 stars and recommend it to anyone who doesn't want to shovel snow, but doesn't want/need hte big gas powered machines.
